Canva Unveils New Enterprise Product Aimed at Large Organizations

May 24, 2024

On Thursday, Canva introduced its latest offering, an enterprise version designed specifically to meet the requirements of large organizations.

In 2019, the Australian design and visual communications platform launched an enterprise product. However, it was more oriented toward teams rather than providing a solution for the needs of enterprises.

The new enterprise version incorporates the standard features that would be anticipated in such a product. These features include single sign-on, heightened security provisions, and tools for effectively overseeing larger user cohorts, meeting the expectations of IT departments. Additionally, it delivers centralized brand management and personalized support offerings.

Canva’s co-founder and chief product officer, Cam Adams, explained that in 2019, their focus shifted from primarily supporting individual users to aiding small teams ranging from five to 100 users. However, as they observed larger organizations increasingly adopting Canva over the years, they realized the necessity for a product tailored to meet the specific needs of these bigger companies.

Adams said, “We now have cohorts with up to 5,000 people using Canva inside an enterprise, and because of that, there’s a new type of Canva enterprise product that we’ve needed to ship to meet the needs of those larger groups. And that’s what we’ve actually done with Canva Enterprise.”

According to Adams, the newest enterprise edition aims to tackle three distinct challenges identified by Canva as it expanded its reach into larger organizations.

First of all, design has evolved beyond siloed departments, reaching across various sectors and industries. Additionally, the increasing array of AI tools has prompted CIOs to be more cautious about what Cam Adams refers to as “AI tool creep.” Finally, there’s a crucial workflow aspect. With design spreading across departments and AI becoming more important, there’s a need for a tool that can help different groups work together smoothly and manage users effectively.

Adams said, “We’re no longer just thinking about empowering every person. We’re really thinking about the second decade of Canva being about empowering every organization. And when we think of enterprises, we’re really looking at bringing all that fragmentation together into the one platform.”
