Carnival Cruise Line Has a New Beach Club in the Bahamas. Here’s What We Know So Far

February 22, 2025

Carnival Cruise Line continues expanding its offerings to its devoted clientele. Just one week after the popular cruise company announced that it was launching a new weekly cruise series from Norfolk, Virginia, it announced the unveiling of its new beach club in the Bahamas. Here’s what we know so far.

Carnival Cruise Line Unveils Celebration Key

The Points Guy reports that Celebration Key, Carnival Cruise Line’s new private beach area in the Bahamas, is almost complete. Just five months before its premiere, many significant milestones have occurred.

Carnival has unveiled the first images of the new location, which will welcome visitors on July 19 when Carnival Vista makes its first port call.

An aerial picture of Celebration Key’s development overlooks the adults-only Calypso Lagoon Portal. In the background, encircled by scaffolding, is the 10-story Suncastle waterslide tower, the focal point of the destination’s five gates.

During a recent site visit, Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, helped in the ceremonial filling of one of the Caribbean’s two largest freshwater lagoons. An on-site system will desalinate the roughly 7 million gallons of freshwater that the lagoons collectively contain.

“Celebration Key represents a new chapter for Carnival and its construction builds on our close partnership with The Bahamas, so seeing it transform from vision to reality is incredible,” said Duffy. “We broke ground on this site less than three years ago, and now in five short months we’ll see our first guests enjoy the many experiences we created just for them to celebrate and enjoy this gorgeous place on Grand Bahama.”

“This destination will serve as a tribute to the rich Bahamian culture and Grand Bahama’s natural environment,” added Carnival Corp. CEO Josh Weinstein in a statement from Carnival Cruise Line. “It’s clear Celebration Key will be a game-changer for our flagship brand and its loyal guests, with endless options for relaxation and recreation, but it’s also truly great to see firsthand how we’re implementing our company’s robust sustainability initiatives on land.”

Weekly Cruises for Wanderlust Passengers

Last week, Carnival Cruise Line announced that it was launching a weekly cruise from Norfolk, Virginia.

The city of Norfolk and Carnival Cruise Line are celebrating the launch of year-round cruises from the Mermaid City.

The 3,700-passenger Carnival Sunshine will be the first weekly cruise vacation offered in 2025, departing from the city’s Half Moon cruise terminal. Before the ship’s departure to the Bahamas, Mayor Kenny Alexander and other local officials attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

With an expected 150,000 passengers yearly, the city estimates that Carnival Cruise Line will bring approximately $19 million in economic benefits.

The cruise has 500 balcony cabins, hundreds of suites, a spa, a gym, and 12 eateries, including a steakhouse and a sushi restaurant.

“If you live in the Mid-Atlantic area, might we suggest one of our cruises from Norfolk? Set sail, as thousands of seafaring Americans have, when you book a Carnival cruise from the 400-year-old seaport of Norfolk,” notes the Carnival Cruise Line website. “The city is today the proud home of a sparkling waterfront filled with green parks, lively shopping malls, delicious restaurants… and even fascinating maritime museums and monuments. Before you cruise from Norfolk, you’ll find yourself near two colonial villages — Colonial Williamsburg and Olde Towne Portsmouth — plus miles of beaches, and a blooming botanical garden.”

However, Carnival Cruise Line passengers hoping to receive an AARP discount are a little out of luck. Earlier this year, the business declared that it would no longer provide senior citizen travelers with discounted gift cards through AARP.
