Consumer confidence takes a hit in June due to China trade war

The Conference Board reported yesterday that its consumer confidence reading slumped to 121.5 in June, more than the decline to 131.1 anticipated by economists surveyed by Reuters. “The escalation in trade and tariff tensions earlier this month appears to have shaken consumers’ confidence,” said Conference Board senior director Lynn Franco in a statement.
