Consumers less confident as inflation persists

The Conference Board said the consumer confidence index fell to 102.9 in February from 106 the month before. Ataman Ozyildirim, senior director of economics at the Conference Board, said the most significant decline was among 35- to 54-year-olds with an annual income of at least $35,000.
