Cybertruck Engineer Pleads Tesla Owners To Stop Torturing the Truck
March 15, 2024
It might be an unusual sight to see car owners bash up their vehicles, but it seems to be the norm for intrigued Cybertruck owners who want to give their trucks a torture session to test out overall toughness, according to Business Insider.
In recent months, Cybertruck owners have been subjecting their vehicles to a range of extreme trials, including driving them through windshield-high waters, shooting them with an AR-15, throwing metal balls at the windows, and intensive off-roading adventures. These challenges have left the trucks in a sorry state, with battle wounds as proof of the torture undergone. It’s clear from this that owners of this vehicle are determined to push the limits to feed their curiosity.
However, on Wednesday, Cybertruck engineer Wes Morrill asked owners to put an end to these torturous tests.
Morrill said, “Cybertruck has lived a tortured life for entertainment – Jumped on, kicked, burned, beaten, and shot (multiple times),” Morrill wrote on X. “To quote the black knight, it’s just a flesh wound, I’m invincible! Now we’ve confirmed [it’s] tough, maybe Cybertruck can roam freely on and off-road in peace?”
For many people investing almost $100,000 in a vehicle, the initial impulse usually wouldn’t be to batter it to see if it shatters to pieces. However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has, in some ways, fostered this urge. Through public demonstrations aimed at showcasing its durability and commenting on online videos depicting destruction, Musk has subtly encouraged this behavior while marketing the Cybertruck as “tough” and “apocalypse-proof.”
Last year, Musk proudly announced that the truck was bulletproof to 9mm and .22-caliber weapons. He also mentioned Tesla’s intention to introduce a variant of the truck featuring thicker fixed-pane glass windows. However, as of now, this enhanced glass feature has not been observed in any released versions of the Cybertruck.
