Dairy Queen Brought Back a Mint OREO Blizzard That Rivals Wendy’s Girl Scout Thin Mint Frosty

February 11, 2025

Dairy Queen has just brought back a fan-favorite Blizzard — the Mint OREO Blizzard — that will give longtime competitor Wendy’s a run for its proverbial money.

According to Allrecipes, just a few days after Dairy Queen reintroduced its popular Red Velvet Cake Blizzard and Red Velvet Blizzard Cupid Cake for Valentine’s Day, the company revealed that its beloved St. Patrick’s Day creation is also returning.

The green dessert is made with OREO cookie chunks and mint topping mixed into Dairy Queen’s famous vanilla soft serve. The actual OREO chunks give the minty Blizzard texture and a chocolaty cookies and cream flavor.

The Mint OREO Blizzard has not been on the menu since 2020. Last year, the ice cream chain introduced a Mint Brownie Blizzard, as well as a special St. Patrick’s Day Under the Rainbow shake. The OREO-filled Blizzard resurfaced just a few days after McDonald’s Shamrock Shake and OREO Shamrock McFlurry became available.

Dairy Queen Has a Minty Rival

While DQ will have its fair share of sweet competition, its real rival Wendy’s has just introduced a Girl Scout Thin Mint Frosty for a limited time.

Rumors of a new Girl Scout Thin Mint Frosty appeared last month, and USA Today confirmed that the fast-food chain is collaborating with the Girl Scouts of the USA to develop this new, limited-edition Frosty flavor, which will be available beginning Feb. 21.

The new sweet delicacy combines the flavors of two “iconic fan favorites” to produce a tasty and minty treat.

“Plus, everyone knows Thin Mints are extra delicious when frozen (Girl Scout’s Honor), so Wendy’s is giving you another delicious way to experience the frozen flavor a Girl Scouts best-seller!” the company said in a news release, per USA Today. “Each bite pairs minty-chocolatey, crumbly, cookie butter texture with the cool, creamy Frosty.”

The flavor will be available as a swirl in either a Chocolate or Vanilla Frosty. Those looking for an extra sugar rush can purchase Girl Scout cookies directly from Troop 6000, a troop dedicated to assisting the thousands of girls living in New York City shelters.
