Dairy Queen Brings Back the Red Velvet Cake Blizzard in Time for Valentine’s Day

January 22, 2025

Dairy Queen is getting ready for the National Day of Love — Valentine’s Day — by reintroducing a new fan-favorite Blizzard treat for a limited time.

Allrecipes is reporting that the Red Velvet Cake Blizzard Treat will make its official return on Jan. 27. The dessert, which features DQ’s signature soft serve swirled with red velvet cake pieces and cream cheese icing, originally joined the menu in 2014. Since then, customers have continuously asked Dairy Queen to bring the flavor back — even requesting for it to return during other months besides February.

The Red Velvet Cake Blizzard will be back for the full month of February, accompanied by its equally popular counterpart, the Red Velvet Blizzard Cupid Cake.

The Cupid Cake takes the delicious Red Velvet Cake Blizzard and puts it into layered ice cream cake form. The heart-shaped Blizzard Cake starts with a layer of vanilla soft serve, then it gets a layer of red velvet cake pieces and cream cheese icing before being topped with a layer of the Red Velvet Cake Blizzard itself — with charming Valentine’s-themed embellishments, of course.

Dairy Queen Previously Brought Back Other Fan-Favorite Blizzards

The Red Velvet Cake Blizzard isn’t the only fan-favorite Blizzard to return to menus. Earlier this month, Dairy Queen announced that its “most requested” Blizzard is now back on the menu, too.

The chain let fans vote to see which of three iconic flavors would be brought back to stores: Georgia Mud Fudge, Cappuccino Heath, or S’mores. The winner was the S’mores Blizzard, which will return to menus this year.

Since its 2013 release, the S’mores Blizzard has been a beloved treat. Troy Bader, the CEO of Dairy Queen, even ranked it as his personal favorite. Fans can soon savor the chocolatey, creamy, campfire-inspired delight again, as it is anticipated to be re-released as part of Dairy Queen’s summer roster. For those unfamiliar, the S’mores Blizzard is made up of DQ’s renowned soft serve, tiny chocolate bars filled with marshmallows, and crushed graham cracker pieces.

Look for the S’mores Blizzard on Dairy Queen menus nationwide beginning in April 2025.
