ACNielsen Acquires Spirits Research Services

ACNielsen U.S., an operating unit of ACNielsen, a VNU company, has acquired the multi-channel alcohol beverage information services that were previously owned by a joint venture with Adams Business Research. The services, marketed under the name LiquorScan, are now fully owned and operated by ACNielsen.

ACNielsen will maintain the existing dedicated client service organization focused on providing market-level and liquor store chain-specific information and analysis pertaining to alcohol beverage sales.

The information services, including exclusive reporting on sales in 15 U.S. markets, have tracked sales of wine, spirits and beer since 1993. Coverage includes the grocery, drug, mass merchandise, and convenience channels of trade.
