C&S Wholesale Grocers of Brattleboro, Vt. is set to acquire Fleming's wholesale operations after the parties announced they reached a tentative deal. Terms of the agreement have yet to be released.
The deal still needs approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware before it can be finalized. C&S will takeover exiting Fleming operations and "immediately begin supplying its customers with food", according a Dow Jones newswire report.
Moderator's Comment: What are your thoughts on C&S Wholesale Grocers deal to takeover Fleming's wholesale grocery business?
C&S is a smart operator that has done well against bigger competitors. With the Fleming acquisition, it will become much larger and cover a much wider geography. Here's hoping Fleming's problems do not now become C&S's. [George Anderson - Moderator]
