Penn Traffic, operator of more than 200 stores under the Big Bear, Big Bear Plus, Bi-Lo and Quality banners in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, upstate New York, Vermont and New Hampshire said yesterday it may file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Reuters reports the chain may take this action if it is unable to secure financing to fund operations. The company also announced it would delay filing its annual financial statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
