Will Dolly Parton’s Travel Center Become a Home Base for Further Expansion?
Country music legend Dolly Parton has captured the imagination of fans in the U.S. and across the world for generations, and now a little bit of that folksy, friendly magic is being conjured to back a travel center in Cornersville, Tennessee.
As C-Store Dive’s Jessica Loder outlined, what was once a well-renowned truck stop in The Tennessean has now been completely revamped and rebranded as Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop, with managing partner David Sachs collaborating with Parton to make the transformation a reality.
“I had always believed The Tennessean had the potential to become something bigger, and Dolly was the person I hoped to partner with to make that happen,” Sachs told the outlet. The goal was to “create a travel stop that feels unmistakably Dolly while staying true to what makes a great stop for travelers.”
And as Loder highlighted, this meant bringing in a bevy of branded, proprietary merchandise — from coffee to T-shirts, and from toys to cups — much of it displayed beneath a massive chandelier decked out in guitars. Overseeing the entire operation is the logo itself, a silhouette of Parton seen throughout the location.
In addition to the standard travel center fare, a dedicated area for long-distance truck drivers is on premises, as are several foodservice options — including Dolly’s Cup of Ambition (with take-home coffee also available), a 24/7 DLY BBQ, and a Southern-inspired sit-down restaurant.
“The dining space features dozens of rustic, wood-topped tables and a stage for live musical acts. Right now, Dolly’s Tennessean has musicians playing on the weekends, and Sachs said the company is working on expanding that schedule to offer more acoustic and band performances,” Loder wrote.
“Dolly’s also has an upstairs event space with seating, televisions and a bar,” she added. Pet lovers can bring their furry friends to the Doggy Parton dog park outside, a fenced-off area which provides a place for pets to frolic and do their business.
Dolly’s Travel Centers (and Branded Items) Could Spring Forth From This First Location
In an earlier report also produced by Loder, the origins of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop (and with rumored extra stores being announced later in 2026) were examined.
Of note were comparisons to Buc-ee’s and Wally’s, as the notion of the destination travel center shows remarkable strength in the American market. According to a recent CNBC report, the upsizing and experiential-first nature of what once was a simple gas-and-go c-store experience is in full swing.
“The traditional gas station is rapidly transforming from a transactional stop for fuel into a sprawling, multi-faceted retail and travel destination. This evolution is driven primarily by razor-thin profit margins on gasoline, forcing operators to leverage fuel as a loss leader to draw customers into high-margin convenience stores and food service,” said Sudip Mazumder, SVP / retail industry lead, North America at Publicis Sapient, per CNBC.
