Beeler's 100 percent natural mini-ham has been named the best new product of 2002 by the Iowa Pork Producers.
The company owes it success to a new curing process it developed for its "Hog Wild" brand of bacon, sausage and ham.
Tim Beeler, founder, Beeler's Naturally Pure Pork told the Winterset Madisionian, "We have developed a natural curing process that utilizes all natural herbs and spices and gives the ham a shelf life of 47 days without the use of artificial ingredients, preservatives, MSG, nitrites, fillers and extenders."
Beeler's naturally cured ham is distinguishable by its pink color and appealing taste. Most naturally cured hams are brownish or gray in color.
Moderator's Comment: Are retailer's doing a satisfactory job of finding the best new products to bring to their shoppers?
If we were a retailer with a health-conscious customer base, we'd have only one question... Where can we get Beeler's products? Bee-Lor, Inc. of Truro, IA is the distributor of Beeler's products. [George Anderson - Moderator]
