Publix opened its second Publix Wine & Spirits liquor store in Kissimmee, Fla. last Saturday, reports the Lakeland Ledger.
Publix had previously tried operating liquor stores in the late 1980s. It had three stores, which closed in 1989.
Lee Brunson said Publix made the decision to try operating liquor stores again because, but closed them, "We're continually looking for ways to offer our customers the products and services they want. (In May) we opened our first Wine and Spirits store, and it has been very well received."
Moderator's Comment: What are your thoughts on Publix opening liquor stores after having been unsuccessful with them before?
