Stater Bros. Markets in California has been named Grocery Headquarters Magazine's "2004 Supermarket Retailer of the Year".
According to a Stater Bros. company press release, the 158 store chain was awarded this distinction for its "attractive supermarkets, superior service, outstanding perishable departments, low prices, community involvement and well-trained, friendly store employees."
"We are very proud to bring the recognition as America's '2004 Supermarket Retailer of the Year' back home to the Heartland of Southern California and especially to our 'valued' customers, friends and neighbors in the Inland Empire," stated Jack H. Brown, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Stater Bros.
Moderator's Comment: What are your thoughts on Grocery Headquarters selection of Stater Bros. as its supermarket retailer of the year? What company do you think is the best supermarket retailer?
Certainly, the fastest at growing share of market is Wal-Mart. We're still splitting our shopping between Wegman's and Trader Joe's. - George Anderson - Moderator
