Taco Bell Agrees to Pay Overtime

By George Anderson

The Associated Press reports Taco Bell has agreed to a settlement with former employees who brought a class action lawsuit against the restaurant chain claiming violations in overtime and meal-break regulations.

The settlement calls for the former employees, all from Oregon, to be paid based on their length of employment at Taco Bell. The settlement figure is reported to be $1.5 million for the approximately 1,000 former employees.

Moderator’s Comment: Why do store managers engage in the type of activity that has just cost Taco Bell $1.5 million in this settlement? Are chain headquarters implying approval for such behavior on the part of store managers?
