Disney World Is Closing a Beloved Fast-Food Restaurant
January 28, 2025
Walt Disney World is closing a beloved fast-food restaurant located near one of its most iconic and longstanding attractions.
According to Walt Disney World’s restaurant booking page, “The last day to enjoy PizzeRizzo will be June 7, 2025. The location will permanently close on June 8, 2025, to make way for the new Monsters, Inc.-themed land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.”
PizzeRizzo is located directly across from a cherished Disney World attraction that will also be closing: Muppet*Vision 3D. This attraction was the final project Muppets creator Jim Henson worked on before he died in 1990.
The Disney World eatery’s menu includes lunch and dinner options, with offerings such as four different types of pizzas, two salads, two subs, and options for the littlest eaters, including a smaller pepperoni pizza and macaroni and cheese. Desserts include cannolis and pizza cookies.
According to the website Inside the Magic, all of the businesses located within Muppets Courtyard will be shutting down. These include Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano and It’s a Wonderful Shop as well. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will be the first to close on May 10.
However, the Muppets will not be gone from Disney’s Hollywood Studios altogether. These beloved characters will be taking over the former Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with their first featured ride.
Are There Any Other Restaurants Closing Within Walt Disney World?
Per the website AllEars.net, along with Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano and PizzeRizzo, there will be other restaurants that will be closing and being made over with new themes.
Animal Kingdom’s Restaurantosaurus will close, but in its place will be a new restaurant as part of the park’s Tropical Americas update. Disney will likely renovate Restaurantosaurus and open a new eatery that will fit in more with the upcoming land.
In the same area, guests can say goodbye to Dino-Bite Snacks, which is located next door to Restaurantosaurus. The space will likely be used as seating for the new quick-service restaurant. Trilo-Bites, where customers enjoy the park’s famous Dole Whip or buffalo-chicken loaded chips, will also close.
Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort recently closed for refurbishment between Jan. 12 and Jan. 25. The restaurant is located on the top floor of the Riviera Resort and features character breakfasts with Mickey and friends and a signature dining experience at dinner. Finally, Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT, as reported by the Disney Food Blog.
