DOJ sues CVS over fraudulent Medicare prescriptions

The Department of Justice has joined in with whistleblower litigation that accuses CVS’s Omnicare unit of billing back Medicare for invalid prescriptions. According to the complaint, when prescriptions rang out, Omnicare would regularly renew the prescriptions by making up false numbers. The orders were typically for elderly and disabled patients living in assisted living and other special care facilities.
