Dole Salad Kit Recall Due to Listeria Concerns

Yet another popular convenience food is being recalled due to Listeria concerns. Dole Salad Kits may have been contaminated with the virus, and the company has called for a recall of the affected products.

Dole’s official website shared information regarding the recalled salad bags that are affected. The kits were processed on the same line as cheese recalled by the manufacturer Rizo-Lopez Foods for the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

The products include Dole, President’s Choice, and Marketside brands. The product lot codes for all the lots are located in the upper-right-hand corner of the package.

Recalled salad items were distributed in the states of Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. The salad kits were also distributed in the following Canadian provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Quebec.

The affected products include the Dole Chopped Kit Avocado Ranch, Premium Kit Southwest Salad, Cajun Ranch Chopped Kit, Premium Kit Endless Summer, and Chopped Salad Kit Bacon Ranch Crunch. The products have “Best if used by” dates between Feb. 3 and 21.

“This recall notification is being issued due to the potential for cross-contamination of cheese contained in certain masterpacks by cheese potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes from our packaged cheese supplier,” Dole noted. “At this time, we are unaware of any specific illnesses associated with our products or by other purchasers of their recalled cheese.”

Consumers are encouraged to throw away any of the affected salad kits they have in their homes. Currently, no other Dole products are part of these voluntary recalls.

On Feb. 5, 2024, the FDA recalled products including cheese, yogurt, and sour cream sold under the brand names Tio Francisco, Don Francisco, Rizo Bros, Rio Grande, Food City, El Huache, La Ordena, San Carlos, Campesino, Santa Maria, Dos Ranchitos, Casa Cardenas, and 365 Whole Foods Market.
