Doritos Reveals Its 25 ‘Crash the Super Bowl’ Semifinalists

January 7, 2025

In 2024, Doritos challenged its dedicated fans to create a better Super Bowl LIX commercial, and the response was nothing short of spectacular. Thousands participated in the brand’s “Crash the Super Bowl” contest, and its 25 semifinalists are now revealed.

In September 2024, Doritos looked ahead to its 2025 silver anniversary Super Bowl ad. Instead of having its creative team undertake the task of pulling together another unforgettable advertisement, the brand allowed its most devoted fans to create a television spot displaying their love for the crunchy snack.

The brand gave fans and critics of its iconic Super Bowl commercials a challenge: “Think you can do better? Prove it.” Creators answered the call and submitted thousands of original, unexpected, and hilarious submissions. Doritos has revealed its top 25 “Crash the Super Bowl” semifinalists. These fans are in the running to have their ad air during the big game and also win $1 million.

The 25 semifinalists hail from 14 states across the U.S. Fans can view the top fan submissions at DoritosCrash.com, and starting Jan. 14, voting for the top three finalists begins.

Up to three eligible submissions with the highest total scores will be selected from the pool of semifinalists to become finalists between Jan. 14 and Jan. 28, 2025. Votes are limited to one per person, per device, per day. At the end of the voting period, the submission that receives the highest number of eligible votes will be deemed the grand prize winner on Feb. 3, 2025.

Jenna Ortega Starred in Doritos’ 2024 Super Bowl Ad

For 2024’s big matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, Doritos leaned into the popularity of actor Jenna Ortega, which was at its peak due to her starring in the Netflix series “Wednesday.” She nabbed the prime spot to introduce the brand’s Doritos Dinamita.

“Doritos has a long history of delivering fan-favorite Super Bowl commercials, but new pack-a-punch flavors, unique shapes and some spicy stars will make Dinamita’s Super Bowl commercial a campaign that will get snackers across the country buzzing like never before,” said Tina Mahal, senior vice president of marketing at PepsiCo Foods North America in a press release at the time.

Doritos Dinamita’s flavors include Flamin’ Hot Queso, Hot Honey Mustard, Smoky Chile Queso, Tangy Fiery Lime, and Chile Limón.

Frito-Lay North America is the convenient foods division of PepsiCo, Inc. Frito-Lay snacks include Lay’s and Ruffles potato chips, Doritos and Tostitos tortilla chips and branded dips, Cheetos snacks, Stacy’s pita chips, PopCorners snacks, SunChips multigrain snacks, and Fritos corn chips.
