Excess inventory weighs on Nike's quarterly earnings

Excess inventory and the need to use discounts to move merchandise tamped down Nike's earnings during its first fiscal quarter. The company posted revenues of $12.69 billion up four percent year-over-year. Earnings were down 22 percent.
