Exclusive: H&M Says It Will “Phase Out” Sourcing From Myanmar

H&M, the world’s second-largest fashion retailer, has announced its decision to gradually cease sourcing from Myanmar due to reports of labor abuses in the country’s garment factories. The move follows similar decisions by brands like Inditex (owner of Zara), Primark, and Marks & Spencer to sever ties with suppliers in Myanmar. H&M cited the increased challenges of conducting operations in Myanmar according to their standards and requirements as the reason for their decision to phase out operations.
