Fed Proposes Capping Debit Card Interchange Fees

In a move seen as having great potential benefit to retailers, the Federal Reserve, after a period of public comment, may decide to cap debit card interchange fees at 12 cents, slashing rates from a current average of 1 percent on the cost of each transaction.
