Giant Food makes adjustments to operate stores 'safely and profitably'

Ira Kress, president of Giant Food, said the company is reducing store entrances and taking other steps to reduce theft and increase safety. The alternative, he said, would be to close some locations. “The last thing I want to do is close stores,” he said. “But I’ve got to be able to run them safely and profitably.”
