Google puts another $1 billion into NYC presence

On the heels of Apple's recent commitment to invest $1 billion in a Houston headquarters, Google announced this morning that it will spend about the same amount on a new 1.7 million-square-foot campus encompassing two buildings on the West Side of Manhattan. "Google Hudson Square" will be the company's NYC base for global operations. Google spent $2.4 billion earlier this year on its purchase of nearby Chelsea Market, the shopping and office complex.
