Grubhub, Doordash sued for alleged deceptive pricing during pandemic
August 30, 2021
The lawsuit, filed Friday by the city of Chicago against the two major food-delivery platforms, make a number of allegations —some jointly and some particular to each service — that the companies used “unfair and deceptive tactic to take advantage of restaurants and consumers who were struggling to stay afloat” during the pandemic. Among other offenses, Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot said the services failed to reveal to customers that “menu prices on their platforms are often significantly higher than the prices available if ordering directly from the restaurant.”
