Historic Hollywood Disney-Themed Cafe To Close After 78 Years
June 24, 2024
A historic Hollywood eatery based on one of Disney’s most iconic movies is set to close after 78 years in business.
KTLA reports that the Snow White Cafe, a Disney-themed restaurant and bar in the heart of Hollywood, has served its last customers. The eatery is located at 6769 Hollywood Blvd., next door to the Hollywood Wax Museum.
First opening in 1946, nine years after the animated classic’s big screen debut, the Snow White Cafe dished out American fare. Per The Daily Mail, the cafe was owned by a friend of Walt Disney, and his animators painted the walls.
“Welcome to Snow White Cafe, a Hollywood institution that has been serving up delicious food and drinks since 1946. Our restaurant is home to stunning murals that were crafted by the very hands that gave life to the Disney classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” the restaurant’s official description reads.
“Whether you’re looking for a casual meal with friends or a romantic dinner for two, Snow White Cafe is the perfect place to enjoy a truly magical experience,” the description continues. “Our menu features classic American fare with a twist, along with a wide selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. So come on in and step into a world of enchantment. We’ll be waiting for you!”
The menu featured a variety of breakfast items, appetizers, pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, entrees, and an assortment of beers. The eatery’s Instagram page has shut down, but its Facebook page remains open.
According to The Daily Mail, photos show that the cafe has been completely gutted, and all of its iconic imagery appears to have been removed.
“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was the first Disney animated film. Premiered on December 21, 1937, it told the story of the wicked queen’s stepdaughter, Snow White, who was the fairest of them all.
To ensure her safety, a woodsman, ordered by the queen to kill the young maiden, urged her to hide in the forest. There, she meets the Seven Dwarfs: Sleepy, Dopey, Doc, Sneezy, Grumpy, Bashful, and Happy. In the end, Snow White gets her happy ending after a handsome prince breaks a poisonous spell placed on the young woman by the envious queen.
