Indie bookstores are finding success across America

More than 300 new independent bookstores have opened across the U.S. over the past couple of years as consumers are drawn to places where they can get recommendations on what to read from real people. “It’s kind of shocking when you think about what dire straits the stores were in in 2020,” said Allison Hill, CEO of the American Booksellers Association. “We saw a rally like we’ve never seen before.”
