Instacart workers do get their tips, but it's complicated

According to an NBC News investigation, the tips shoppers provide to Instacart and Doordash workers don't always go directly to them in the way one might expect. Most consumers assume a tip of, say, $5 on a $100 order would go directly to the delivery worker, however the services use a complicated payment structure that sometimes uses that money to supplement the worker's base delivery fee.
