J.C. Penney is up for sale, not liquidation, says lawyer

A liquidation of J.C. Penney has not been part of the discussions concerning its bankruptcy, according to the retailer's attorney Joshua Sussberg. Instead, Penney is considering three separate acquisition bids that would allow it to continue operating under its own banner.
