Japanese retailer Muji files for bankruptcy in U.S.

Muji's U.S. subsidiary has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with plans to close unprofitable stores and renegotiate rental payments at others. The minimalist lifestyle brand has had its 18 stores in the U.S. closed since mid-March.
