JetBlue Teases New European Destinations, Brings Back Seasonal Routes

November 25, 2024

Even though JetBlue has scaled back its transatlantic operations, the airline has recently announced the return of some seasonal routes and has teased new European destinations.

According to Aviation A2Z, the airline has changed its approach following three years of explosive growth across the Atlantic, cutting flights to Paris and London Gatwick (LGW) in the winter. Rather, it has redirected its Mint-equipped Airbus planes to more popular vacation spots like Phoenix, Las Vegas, and San Juan. Executives have also alluded to the addition of at least one more European destination in 2024, notwithstanding this setback.

Speaking at a Dallas aviation conference, President Marty St. George affirmed the airline’s interest in additional European expansion while pointing out that future growth will be more measured. Earlier this year, CEO Joanna Geraghty expressed a similar opinion, calling the strategy “opportunistic.”

JetBlue will start operating seasonal flights to Edinburgh (EDI) and Dublin (DUB) again in the summer of 2025. These routes were first offered in 2024. In addition to these locations, the airline currently provides year-round service to London, Paris, and Amsterdam as part of its transatlantic network.

JetBlue Offering New Direct Flights to the Caribbean

News of these new routes comes hot on the heels of the airline’s announcement that it will be offering direct routes to the Caribbean.

For the first time, the airline is providing direct flights to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines from John F. Kennedy Airport.

The flight to the Caribbean is one of JetBlue’s two newest offerings. Additionally, the airline will begin flights to Bonaire, Netherlands, in November.

“This fall, we are excited to introduce Bonaire and St. Vincent and the Grenadines to our network as part of our strategy to serve underserved routes and our emphasis on adding flying into top leisure destinations,” said David Jehn, the vice president of network planning and airline partnerships at JetBlue, in a statement to PIX 11 about the new routes.

A round-trip service to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is now offered on Wednesdays and Sundays. JetBlue is the first American airline to fly from JFK to St. Vincent with this new route. Additionally, Tuesday and Saturday flights to Bonaire began on Nov. 5.
