Sausage Recall: Johnsonville Recalls Products in 10 States
April 8, 2025
A sausage recall in 10 states is being issued by the Johnsonville company, which claims that its popular products have what it’s calling a “contamination concern.”
According to Fox 6 Milwaukee, Johnsonville has issued a recall of specific cheddar bratwurst packages with five pieces of sausage and the package identifier B9FOD. The product’s front label bears the establishment number “Est. 1647.” The sausage recall includes approximately 22,672 pounds of the product.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety & Inspection Service, the food may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically hard plastic. Two customers complained that hard plastic was found in their bratwurst. No injuries have been recorded.
These items were distributed to retailers in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Authorities are concerned that the food could be in consumers’ freezers. If you purchased items affected in the sausage recall, you are advised not to eat them. These products should be discarded or returned to the point of purchase.
The Sausage Recall Is Just the Latest Recall
The Johnsonville sausage recall is just the latest in a long line of recalls that have affected Americans. Late last month, Coca-Cola was also hit with a multi-state recall that affected more than 10,000 cans of product.
And, as with the Johnsonville sausage recall, the Coca-Cola products were recalled over concerns about plastic product contamination.
The contaminated cans were distributed in Illinois and Wisconsin. To determine whether your soda has been affected, search for the following information:
- Can UPC: 0 49000-00634 6.
- Pack UPC: 0 49000-02890 4.
- Date code: Sept. 29, 2025 (SEP2925MDA).
- Time stamp: 1100-1253
If your Coca-Cola products are part of the recall, you should stop drinking them and throw them away. The FDA has not provided detailed recommendations on how to discard the impacted items. However, the agency has classified the Coca-Cola recall as Class II.
A Class II recall, as defined by the FDA, refers to “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
