Judge says New York AG can investigate Amazon’s COVID-19 practices

A federal judge dismissed an Amazon.com lawsuit that sought to prohibit New York’s attorney general from investigating the company’s actions when it came to protecting warehouse workers from COVID-19 and allegations that it engaged in retaliation against workers who believed it was not doing enough to safeguard their health. “The state has a legitimate interest in ensuring that employers are complying with state labor laws, are enforcing important health safety measures, and are sanctioned for illegal conduct that occurs within the state,” wrote U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan in his ruling.
