Junior’s Debuts Deep-Fried Cheesecake With Loaded Toppings

April 3, 2025

Since 1950, Junior’s Cheesecake has been a go-to staple for a delicious New York-style dessert. Today, the restaurant and bakery has taken its iconic dessert and elevated it to an even more iconic status by deep frying it.

According to a press release, the delicious dessert is dipped in egg whites, rolled in pulverized cornflakes, and then deep-fried until golden brown.

The cake is served with whatever toppings customers choose. These include chocolate chips, mini gingerbread men, graham cracker crumbles, rainbow sprinkles, crushed OREOs, whipped cream, strawberry, caramel and chocolate sauces, blueberry, cherry, and pineapple pie toppings, crumbled Reese’s cups, rainbow marzipan, Dutch Boy, and Black-and-White cookies.

“This is not an April’s Fool joke,” said Alan Rosen, Junior’s third-generation owner. “Everyone’s a little fried these days. So we figured our cheesecake should be too. If this doesn’t make you smile and wolf it down — or at least take a nap — you’re doing dessert wrong.”

Although Junior’s cheesecakes are available in outposts throughout New York City and nationwide in supermarkets, the fried version is only available at the restaurant’s original Brooklyn, New York, store, which is located on the corner of Flatbush Avenue Ext. and DeKalb Avenue, also known as Cheesecake Corner and Harry Rosen Way.

Junior’s Sweet History

For over seven decades, Junior’s Bakery has been a beloved institution, known for crafting some of the most iconic cheesecakes in New York and beyond. Founded in 1950 by Harry Rosen in Brooklyn, New York, the restaurant quickly became a go-to spot for classic, homemade desserts.

Rosen’s vision was simple: to create the perfect cheesecake using only the finest ingredients, a secret recipe that remains unchanged to this day. Over the years, Junior’s has expanded its menu while maintaining its commitment to quality and tradition, offering an array of baked goods.

As word of Junior’s famous cheesecake spread, the bakery gained national recognition, attracting locals, tourists, and even celebrities who couldn’t resist its rich, creamy flavors. The original Brooklyn location became a landmark, and Junior’s success led to multiple locations in New York City and beyond, along with a thriving mail-order business that allows customers across the country to enjoy their favorite desserts from the comfort of their homes.
