KFC Is Offering a $5 Chicken Tender Meal Deal as a Direct Challenge to McDonald’s

KFC is offering a $5 Chicken Tender Meal Deal for its inflation-weary customers, directly challenging McDonald’s in the process.

The Daily Meal received an email from the national chicken chain, indicating that it was coming directly for the Golden Arches in its latest promotion. “This week, preTENDERS tried to be conTENDERS so KFC dropped a competitive digital exclusive offer on its Original Recipe Tenders,” the email read.

Five chicken tenders prepared using the original recipe of “secret” spices, including thyme, ginger, and basil, are available to customers at KFC for just $5. In the emailed statement, the company wrote, “Why settle for a tender from a burger chain when you can get a deal on what we believe is the best tasting tender, from the OG of fried chicken? With this deal we’re giving our customers a reason to try the finger lickin’ good flavor of our tenders and judge for themselves.”

This deal can be obtained by placing an online order through the restaurant’s mobile app or at participating locations’ official websites. The promotion is only available to Rewards members, and it’s free to join if you aren’t already a member. KFC is only making the offer available until May 11.

KFC Brought Back the Popular Chicken & Waffles

If you want more than just chicken tenders, KFC has finally brought back its popular Chicken & Waffles meal. According to a company press release, this meal, steeped in Southern tradition, includes the company’s Original Recipe Fried Chicken paired with thick waffles and syrup.

“We believe Chicken & Waffles is an American icon. Flavorful, juicy and freshly fried secret recipe chicken, paired with sweet, golden waffles and gooey syrup — it’s bold, it’s delicious, and it’s back on our menu just in time for Mother’s Day!” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, president, in a statement accompanying the press release.

Customers can order the item in one of the following ways:

• $7 Tenders and Waffle Box: Three juicy and crispy Original Recipe Tenders, a Liège-style waffle, and Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup.
• $7 Two-Piece Fried Chicken and Waffle Box: A drumstick and thigh portion of chicken in a choice of Original Recipe or Extra Crispy, a Liège-style waffle, and syrup.
• $25 Chicken & Waffles Fan Favorites Box: Four pieces of fried chicken (or six tenders), 12 KFC Nuggets, four Liège-style waffles, two individual fries, and your choice of four syrups or dipping sauces.
• $10 Tuesday with Tenders: KFC’s bestselling $10 Tuesday Deal introduces a new tenders option. On Tuesdays, customers can choose from eight Original Recipe tenders and four dipping sauces or eight pieces of classic fried chicken for only $10.
