Longtime KFC Rival MB Chicken Launches in England
November 10, 2024
KFC has had a longtime rival in the Canadian-owned brand Mary Brown’s Chicken — popularly known as MB Chicken — and now, the fast-food chicken chain is going to be competing with the Canadian chain in the United Kingdom.
Metro UK reports that MB’s Chicken, which is “to die for” according to a fan on Reddit, opened its first location in London, England, on Nov. 6.
The chain, which has been a Canadian institution since 1969, is now available in Smithy Lane, Hounslow in addition to its current branches in Belfast and Lisburn in Northern Ireland.
The chicken restaurant that is converting KFC lovers to MB devotees is now open to those in the capital.
With more than 200 restaurants in North America at the moment, MB Chicken plans to continue growing internationally by expanding in the UK, Pakistan, and Mexico in 2024. The company wants to have a total of 150 worldwide stores in the next five years.
KFC Introduces New Drink Flavor
Meanwhile, back in the States, KFC is trying to attract more customers through its doors by announcing a new flavor of Pepsi.
Allrecipes reports that KFC introduced a new cranberry syrup option for its drinks on Oct. 14, enabling patrons to make inventive concoctions. Highlights include the opportunity to combine the syrup with either sweet or unsweetened tea, as well as Cranberry Lemonade, which gives traditional lemonade a tart edge. That’s not all, though. Cranberry Pepsi, Cranberry Starry, and a variation on Sweet Lightning Mountain Dew are available for those who enjoy soda.
Many fans are thrilled with the new flavor combinations, despite the conflicting social media responses. The cranberry Pepsi was even given an 8 out of 10 by one Reddit member, who suggested stirring to completely combine the tastes.
Cherry Pie Poppers, which are bite-sized sweets with warm cherry filling and a flaky shell, have also been added to KFC’s dessert menu to go along with the previously introduced Apple Pie Poppers. These new desserts, which come in four or 10-piece bundles, are meant to complement KFC’s menu and rival other products from companies like Arby’s.
