KFC Is Bringing Back Its Most Requested Side — But Only for 2 Weeks
March 12, 2025
KFC knows what its customers want in terms of sides, and it’s bringing it back — but only for two weeks, and only in a few cities in Florida.
The Miami Herald reports that the company’s famed potato wedges are back on the menu in certain Florida locations. According to a KFC news release, the “wildly popular” side item was withdrawn in 2020 but reappeared on Monday, March 10, as part of a two-week test at select restaurants in the Tampa and Orlando metro areas.
“Our fans have commented, tweeted, and even petitioned for the return of KFC potato wedges, and we’re thrilled to deliver on those feisty requests to bring them back … for a short time,” Catherine Tan Gillespie, president of KFC U.S., said in the release.
The following locations carry the much-beloved side dish as of this writing:
- 1605 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa
- 770 34th St. N., St. Petersburg
- 4402 W. Gandy Blvd., Tampa
- 3105 Havendale Blvd., Auburndale
- 1492 N. Broadway Ave., Bartow
Customers have two weeks to get their hands on the potato wedges, and the company may or may not reintroduce them to the nationwide menu depending on the response. “Tampa, it’s up to you if we bring them back nationally,” Gillespie said. “No pressure!”
KFC Frequently Brings Back Popular Items
This isn’t the first time that KFC has brought back popular menu items to limited areas. Not long ago, the company brought back the controversial Double Double sandwich to select UK locations.
Last month, the fast-food restaurant relaunched a limited-edition version of its popular sandwich, the Double Down, with a fiery twist: the Zinger Double Down. To commemorate the occasion, the brand developed a campaign portraying individuals discovering the menu item in unexpected places such as a bunk bed, perfume bottles, and summer holidays.
The ad campaign was designed by Mother, an acclaimed advertising agency. According to Martin Rose, senior creative director at Mother, “Each film begins with a totally different look and feel to lull the audience into a false sense of security, before unexpectedly morphing into Zinger Double Down.”
