KFC Turned Its Iconic Chicken Bucket Cover Into a Playable Record. Here Are the Details.
January 1, 2025
KFC continues its informal tradition of releasing fun, quirky promotional items by turning its iconic bucket top into a playable record. The record features a collection of Christmas tracks. Let’s look at what we know about this latest fun promotion.
KFC Got Into the Holiday Spirit
Although the contest to win the record is now closed, Loudwire reports that the fried chicken chain is giving away bucket tops that serve as playable vinyl records as part of a social media promotion.
Several Kentucky Fried Carols are on each record, such as “Jingle Bells,” “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” and “Deck The Halls.”
As expected, there was no heavy music. Did you not anticipate they would distribute oily CDs, including King Diamond’s “No Presents For Christmas“?
“We transformed our iconic bucket to make the lid a playable record,” KFC said in an Instagram post. “Set the holiday mood with Finger Lickin’ Good food and music all at once.”
KFC claims the record is printed on paper lids similar to those used on chicken buckets. The lids were then engraved and coated in vinyl to make a record that could be played. There are only a few KFC bucket-top records. Only 10 are now available for purchase through a contest on the KFC Canada Instagram page.
Although the competition was exclusively available to Canadian citizens, there is no guarantee that KFC aficionados in the United States will never be able to participate. Check eBay in the not-too-distant future for a copy near you.
The Saucy Restaurant Concept
Meanwhile, the chicken giant recently tested out its new restaurant concept, which focuses almost exclusively on the fan-favorite chicken nuggets.
According to CNN, the red-black-and-white company is opening a prototype location in Orlando, Florida, where it plans to reduce its menu while introducing entirely new sweets and a variety of delicious and vibrant beverages.
With its unusual blend of traditional woodgrain designs and bright neon pinks, the new Saucy restaurant in Orlando is noticeably bereft of most of the classic branding. The words “by KFC” are added in smaller letters beneath the Saucy emblem, displayed in a font reminiscent of Willy Wonka.
According to some, chicken tenders are the most prominent item on the menu. CNN claims that the popularity of chicken tenders has been increasing in the restaurant industry as a whole. The new restaurant’s strategy also heavily relies on the chicken tenders’ customizable aspect, which is mostly attributed to the range of sauce options available.
Placer.ai’s chief of analytical research, R.J. Hottovy, discussed how important sauces are to Saucy’s success. According to Hottovy, KFC may keep a simplified menu like its rivals while allowing customers to customize their orders to suit their tastes by increasing the variety of sauces it offers.
“By expanding its sauce options, KFC can maintain a streamlined menu similar to its competitors while offering customers the ability to personalize their orders to match their taste preferences,” Hottovy said.
Another distinctive feature of Saucy is the elimination of counter orders. All in-store orders will be placed through kiosks; cashiers will not be present to accept cash, credit, or debit. In-app and drive-thru ordering will also be accessible.
The prototype’s sauce flights, which offer four distinct sauces that may be added to your meal to give it the desired sweet, salty, savory, or spicy kick, may thrill those who try to sample Saucy. When the restaurant opens, patrons can choose from the same number of sauces, which pays respect to KFC’s famous blend of eleven herbs and spices.
