Koenigsegg Jesko Burns to Ashes at Event

June 16, 2024

In a shocking incident, a Koenigsegg Jesko was destroyed by fire during the 6to6 Motor Europe Tour in Greece on Saturday morning. Thankfully, both the driver and passenger escaped unharmed, but the rare hypercar is now beyond repair.

The Koenigsegg Jesko, a limited-edition marvel with only 125 units produced, is valued at over $3 million. This particular Jesko, part of the 6to6 Motor Europe Tour, was among 70 supercars traveling from Athens to Monaco, with planned stops in Albania, Croatia, and Italy. Unfortunately, the Jesko’s journey was cut short in a northern suburb of Athens.

The incident occurred just five minutes after the car departed from its hotel in Athens, while it was being driven at low speed. A representative for the tour confirmed that the car was practically brand new, with fewer than 200 kilometers on the odometer. Despite the devastating loss of the vehicle, the swift and safe evacuation of its occupants is a relief.

This Jesko was no ordinary hypercar. It was a 1,600-horsepower track-focused Attack version, powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine. Additionally, it featured an extravagant unpainted carbon fiber body with 24-carat gold trim, a $443,400 customization now reduced to a charred shell.

The cause of the fire remains unclear, but the quick response from the tour organizers, the manufacturer, and the Athens police ensured that the situation was managed efficiently. An engineer from Koenigsegg has been dispatched to Athens to oversee the return of the vehicle remains to Sweden.

The 6to6 Motor Europe Tour, known for its celebration of automotive excellence, continues despite the setback. The participants, including the unfortunate Jesko’s owner, are determined to complete the tour, potentially with a different vehicle.

Koenigsegg, renowned for its high-performance hypercars, has yet to comment on the incident. This tragic event underscores the risks associated with driving these powerful machines, even in controlled environments.

The Jesko’s demise is a significant loss to the automotive world, reducing the already limited number of these exclusive hypercars. As the tour progresses, the community of enthusiasts and drivers is reminded of the delicate balance between the thrill of driving and the unpredictability of technology and machinery.
