Krispy Kreme Is Giving Away Free Doughnuts for Mardi Gras

Ready to celebrate Fat Tuesday? Then head to Krispy Kreme for a free donut to celebrate Mardi Gras.

According to USA Today, customers must wear Mardi Gras beads to any participating Krispy Kreme retailer for one free original glazed doughnut on March 4 only. There is a limit of one per guest and the offer is available in-shop or at the drive-thru. No purchase is necessary.

But, if you choose to buy anything, the bakery chain is also offering a special price for a dozen doughnuts. On March 4, the company is offering a Mardi Gras $12 Original Glazed Dozen, a steal at $1 a doughnut.

This sweet deal is also available in stores, Krispy Kreme’s drive-thru, and online for pickup and delivery. All customers have to do is utilize a coupon barcode for redemption. It’s available on Krispy Kreme’s website.

Fat Tuesday, also known as Mardi Gras, is the final day of the weeks-long Carnival celebration and the day before Ash Wednesday, marking the last day of revelry before the Christian season of Lent begins. It is traditionally a day of feasting and indulgence, as people consume rich foods before the fasting and penance of Lent. The name “Fat Tuesday” comes from the practice of using fatty and rich ingredients like butter, sugar, and meat before the Lenten restrictions start.

The holiday is most famously celebrated in New Orleans, where it includes parades, music, masquerade balls, and the tossing of beads. Mardi Gras is known for its festive spirit, elaborate floats, and the colors purple (justice), green (faith), and gold (power). Along with its Fat Tuesday Special, Krispy Kreme is still offering its collaboration with Hulu: Movie Snacks Doughnuts. The promotion includes four all-new doughnuts inspired by the cinema snack bar.

“This first-ever collaboration with Hulu lets our fans enjoy their favorite movie snack flavors with their favorite doughnut while streaming their favorite movie. That’s a good night!” said Dave Skena, chief growth officer at Krispy Kreme.

Available for a limited time beginning Feb. 17, the Movie Snack Doughnuts collection includes the following treats:

• Blue Raspberry Slush Doughnut: An Original Glazed doughnut dipped in blue raspberry flavored icing and blue sanding sugar.
• Caramel Popcorn Doughnut: An unglazed shell doughnut filled with caramel popcorn flavored Kreme filling, dipped in white icing and caramel popcorn and topped with red icing drizzles.
• Cookie Dough Superstar Doughnut: An unglazed shell doughnut filled with chocolate Butterkreme flavored filling, dipped in chocolate flavored icing and topped with gold glitter sprinkles and cookie dough bites.
• Candy Double Feature Doughnut: An Original Glazed doughnut dipped in white icing, topped with milk chocolate candy pieces and mini milk chocolate chips, and drizzled with chocolate-flavored icing.
