Krispy Krunchy Chicken Has Been Named the Official Chicken of the Boston Red Sox. Here’s What We Know

April 4, 2025

Krispy Krunchy Chicken has just leveled up in the partnership department, announcing a strategic home run with a Major League Baseball team. The Boston Red Sox have announced that they’ve officially declared the beloved fast-food chain the “official chicken” of the team. Let’s take a look at what we know.

The Boston Red Sox Love Krispy Krunchy Chicken

April 4 is opening day at baseball stadiums across the nation, including Boston’s historic Fenway Park. Fenway Park, the oldest Major League Baseball ballpark currently in use, has a rich history spanning over a century. In addition to being the home of the Boston Red Sox, it is also noted for its iconic features, such as the “Green Monster,” the Pesky Pole, and the Lone Red Seat. The park is well-known as a symbol of sports culture.

And per a press release announcement shared with RetailWire, April 4 is also the day it becomes Krispy Krunchy Chicken’s new home.

“Introducing Krispy Krunchy Chicken to one of Major League Baseball’s most beloved ballparks is a prestigious milestone for our brand,” said Jim Norberg, CEO of Krispy Krunchy Chicken, in a statement accompanying the press release. “This partnership reinforces that our fried chicken truly belongs in the major leagues and we’re proud to call Fenway Park home.”

“The Boston Red Sox are excited to welcome Krispy Krunchy Chicken as the Official Fried Chicken of the Boston Red Sox,” added Troup Parkinson, chief marketing and partnerships officer of the Boston Red Sox, in a separate statement. “With bold flavors and high quality ingredients, Krispy Krunchy Chicken will elevate the gameday experience for our fans, providing a distinctive new offering to Fenway Park’s food lineup that the entire family can enjoy.”

The partnership marks the first of its kind for the brand.

National Chicken Month Deals

Krispy Krunchy Chicken is mostly found in grocery stores. However, in September 2024, the brand revealed that it was participating in National Chicken Month deals.

September, after all, is National Chicken Month. According to the official National Day Calendar website, “For more than two decades, the National Chicken Council has joined forces with major chicken producers in the United States to promote chicken sales in September.” As a result, September is known as “National Chicken Month.”

With over 3,000 locations worldwide, the fast-food giant introduced a $4 Value Meal, which was available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at select locations. The $4 Value Meal included a choice of two pieces of dark meat bone-in fried chicken or two hand-breaded white meat Cajun tenders, both seasoned with the brand’s characteristic mild Cajun spice and freshly fried. Each dinner also included a plate of crispy potato wedges.

“Our brand is built on helping our operators offer premium, high-quality meals at competitive prices,” Norberg said in a statement at the time. “National Chicken Month is the perfect opportunity to showcase our exceptional value with some of our most popular products. According to NACS Convenience Voices, over 25% of convenience store customers consider fast food within 30 minutes of their c-store visit. Rather than them leaving to get fast food, our operators want to offer them hot and fresh meals, at a great price, where they already are.”

Chickens were originally domesticated for cockfighting but have now become a popular staple food. The unique spicing of chicken is a significant element of its appeal, and for years, food experts have speculated about the secret blend of 11 herbs and spices in KFC’s recipe, with predictions ranging from white pepper to paprika and even Thousand Island dressing. With 25 billion chickens worldwide, they are the most abundant avian species.
