Macy’s and Disney Celebrate Magic and Legacy with New Holiday Collaboration

October 21, 2024

Macy’s and Disney celebrate the magic of the season and their respective legacies by joining forces for a new holiday collaboration.

Both companies have a longstanding relationship with each other. It began when the iconic character Mickey Mouse made his balloon debut at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in 1934. Since that time, there have been multiple collaborations between Macy’s and Disney, spanning over 90 years.

This newest collaboration features fashion-forward apparel, accessories, and one-of-a-kind collectibles for kids and adults. With over 100 products to choose from, there’s something for everyone, including sweats and tees, family pajamas and slippers, and fashion-forward apparel and accessories for adults.

In a press release, Macy’s Chief Merchandising Officer Nata Dvir explained the excitement at once again bringing these two iconic brands together: “Macy’s and Disney have created magic together for ninety years, establishing a legacy that is beloved across multiple generations. We recognize this rich history and are excited to offer our customers this exclusive holiday assortment. The comes to life in dedicated Mickey and Minnie Shops and offers all our customers – from our youngest to our most fashion-forward products and experiences only available at Macy’s.”

Beginning Oct. 17 through early 2025, Macy’s flagship Herald Square store will have a dedicated Mickey and Minnie Mouse store, as will 200 Macy’s stores nationwide. The companies have also collaborated on capsule and limited-edition items with BaubleBar, Stoney Clover Lane, Kate Spade, Citizen, Funko, Hallmark, Swarovski, and Loungefly, to name a few. There will also be limited-edition artwork available by Jeff Shelly, Disney’s director of character art.

Minnie Mouse’s Balloon Debut at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Chrissy Anderson, vice president of North America Brand Commercialization at Disney Consumer Products, revealed that the collaboration culminates in the debut of a new balloon to be flown during Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. Minnie Mouse will take flight for the first time this holiday season.

“Fans of all ages will have the chance to welcome Minnie Mouse and her signature charm as she makes her debut in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” said Anderson. “There’s no better way to mark this milestone than with a limited-edition collection that celebrates her sparkling personality and iconic style.”

The limited-edition Disney collection is now available at Macys.com, Macy’s mobile app, and select Macy’s stores nationwide.
