Macy's CEO believes in being your authentic self at work

Jeff Gennette, CEO of Macy's Inc., made the decision to be open about being gay when he joined the retailer's management training program in 1983. "It was the beginning of the AIDS crisis,” said Mr. Gennette. “So it was a scary time to be a gay person and be out and open.”
