McDonald’s Is Offering 50-Cent Cheeseburgers for National Cheeseburger Day

September 16, 2024

McDonald’s has announced that it will be offering 50-cent cheeseburgers in honor of National Cheeseburger Day on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

PEOPLE reports that for the culinary holiday, the chain is offering double cheeseburgers for just 50 cents. Customers who use the McDonald’s app to place their orders will be the exclusive ones to benefit from this offer.

And this is just the latest discount that the company is offering.

According to The Associated Press, most McDonald’s locations in the United States are extending the summertime $5 Meal Deal through December. It is anticipated that other fast-food chains that offer comparable promotions will do the same.

Executives at McDonald’s are also advising customers to utilize the app to place orders because there will be flash specials through the end of the year. In addition, customers can earn points that can be used for free food when the limited-time deals expire.

McDonald’s Is Facing Stiff Competition

Rivals such as Burger King, which also recently announced that its meal bargain is extending until October, quickly followed in McDonald’s footsteps by offering their own deals this summer.

Wendy’s, which once offered a $5 lunch deal, started to include a free Frosty in the package in June. This autumn, Wendy’s will further offer its patrons a $5 lunch package that includes free delivery on Saturdays.

Furthermore, other establishments are joining in on the trend outside fast-food chains. Olive Garden just disclosed that the $13.99 Never-Ending Pasta Bowl offer — which comes with pasta, breadsticks, soup, or salad — will end on Nov. 17.

McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal was first introduced in reaction to increasing consumer disapproval of the fast-food industry. It unveiled its discount meal offer in June, following a disastrous first quarter that saw fewer trips to the United States and decreased order expenditure, particularly from consumers with incomes of less than $45,000 annually. The $5 Meal Deal comes with a four-piece Chicken McNuggets, small fries, a McDouble burger or McChicken sandwich, and a small drink.

“Together with our franchisees, we’re committed to keeping our prices as affordable as possible,” McDonald’s U.S. President Joe Erlinger said on Thursday, Sept. 12.
