McDonald’s Much-Hyped Chicken Big Mac Criticized as ‘Bland’ on Social Media
October 14, 2024
McDonald’s much-hyped Chicken Big Mac isn’t living up to its hype.
According to FOX News, the new Chicken Big Mac is getting excoriated by social media critics, who compare its taste to the less-savory McNugget.
“I regret to inform you that the chicken Big Mac is very mediocre,” one user wrote. “The chicken is basically a large version of their chicken nugget, which tastes really bland at that size. The McChicken is an elite value menu sandwich that has a nice peppery taste. I can’t figure out why they didn’t use those instead.”

Other McDonald’s patrons are just as vocal about their distaste, with one calling the new sandwich “f-cking disgusting,” and another noting that she was “incredibly disappointed” in the Chicken Big Mac, noting that it was “somehow seriously dry” even though it was coated in sauce.
McDonald’s Debuted the Chicken Big Mac Earlier This Month
McDonald’s has shaken things up with its popular Big Mac sandwich, which was introduced in 1967 and consists of two beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun, by releasing the Chicken Big Mac in the U.S. for a limited time.
The beef patties have been swapped out for two tempura-battered chicken patties, but the remaining sandwich elements maintain the original Big Mac flavor.
McDonald’s shared a press release in early October revealing the key differences between the Chicken Big Mac and its original predecessor. “With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we’re excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items, the Big Mac, and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans,” said Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s USA.
“By tapping into some of our fans’ biggest passions from dupe culture to live-streaming, we’re able to serve up more than just a sandwich,” Hassan continued. “There truly is something for everyone to enjoy in this campaign and we’re bringing experiences that will surprise and delight them, all before the Chicken Big Mac hits restaurants.”
Though many online have criticized the new sandwich for being bland or for having too much breading on the chicken, others have praised it. Alyssa Rose, Mets radio announcer Howie Rose’s daughter, posted on X, “I would just like to take a moment to give all the glory to our lord and savior, Grimace, not only for this Mets run, but for the greatest culinary creation of our lifetime, the Chicken Big Mac.”
