McDonald’s Is Selling Double Cheeseburgers for Just 50 Cents, but You’ll Have To Hurry

December 9, 2024

Burger fans may want to rejoice after hearing the news that McDonald’s will be selling its iconic double cheeseburger at a promotional price.

According to The Fast Food Post, the Golden Arches is offering customers a truly mouth-watering deal: One double cheeseburger — decked out with onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and American cheese — for just 50 cents.

McDonald’s 50-Cent Double Cheeseburger Offered for a Limited Time Only

There are a few catches, however.

The cheap double cheeseburger is only available to order in-app, so you won’t have any luck heading to the counter or using the in-store kiosks. Furthermore, there’s a limit of one double cheeseburger per week, and the promotion is slated to end on Dec. 16.

Instagram influencer mnmtwinz recently shared details of the deal, and several commenters expressed that they had already taken advantage of the offer. Some lamented the short redemption period, hoping for an extension on the offer throughout the holiday season, while others dissected the image attached to the offer, noting it looked more like a McDouble (one slice of cheese being depicted) rather than a double cheeseburger, which boasts two slices of American cheese.

McDonald’s Continues Offering Value to Cash-Strapped Customers in Effort To Regain Customer Base

After losing some market share to competitors, it seems evident that McDonald’s is once again refocusing its efforts on value, as Restaurant Business indicated.

Quoting CFO Ian Borden, the outlet indicated that the fast-food giant’s position had shifted heavily in favor of value propositions. Borden likened the situation, as of April of this year, to a street fight.

“It’s a street fight,” Borden said at the time. “Everybody is fighting for fewer consumers. We have to make sure we have that street fighting capability.”

With NBC News recently reporting plans of an extensive 2025 McValue menu — one offering a $5 value meal and several buy one, get one for $1 options — it seems like this latest double cheeseburger deal is just another stepping stone toward the goal of increasing a broader perception of value for the red-and-yellow brand.

It’s not the first time a cheeseburger has been used in a promotional fashion by McDonald’s. On Sept. 18, McDonald’s launched a 50-cent double cheeseburger deal in honor of National Cheeseburger Day.
