The chicken sandwich is expected at McDonald’s later this year.
McDonald’s Is Bringing Back Fan-Favorite Chicken Sandwich by Popular Demand
August 29, 2024
McDonald’s has announced that it is bringing back a fan-favorite chicken sandwich by popular demand.
Parade Magazine reports that the Chicken Big Mac, which replaces the beef patties in the iconic fast-food burger with chicken patties, will return to the chain’s menus later this year. The news was first reported by popular Instagram food blogger Snackolator.
“McDonald’s is finally bringing the Chicken Big Mac to the US this year and I am really curious to see what everyone thinks!” the blogger wrote in the caption. “The Chicken Big Mac is going to be exactly the same as the original except that instead of the two ‘all beef patties’ you will be getting two ‘tempura chicken patties.’”
The Chicken Big Mac was previously tested in the Miami market in 2022, and it was a big hit. Snackolator also claims that the Chicken Big Mac was popular in Australia and UK McDonald’s — so much so that it was reportedly pulled from the menu due to supply chain issues.
McDonald’s hasn’t commented on the alleged return of the Chicken Big Mac. But in a taste test video, CEO Chris Kempczinski hinted at the Chicken Big Mac’s comeback by contrasting it with the original Big Mac.
McDonald’s New Menu Items
This isn’t the first time that McDonald’s has suggested that it was unveiling new menu items. At the top of the month, it was announced that the fast-food giant would be debuting the Big Arch, a hamburger with 1,025 calories and more than 14 ounces of beef per serving.
“It’s a quintessential McDonald’s burger with a twist on our iconic, familiar flavors,” said Kempczinski on a call with Wall Street analysts. “Consumers still recognize us as the value leader versus our key competitors, but it’s clear that our value leadership gap has recently shrunk. We are working to fix that with pace.”
Two patties, “tangy McDonald’s sauce,” “crispy toppings,” and melting cheese make up The Big Arch. Portugal and Canada are the only two nations where it is now accessible. In late August, Germany will be added to the list.
The Daily Beast reports that “when it finally arrives, it will also launch globally in over 100 countries and nearly 42,000 stores.” The fast-food company has not yet disclosed when it will be accessible in the United States.
