McDonald’s Introduces New Grimace Tumbler, but Some Customers Are Furious About It

February 18, 2025

McDonald’s is fully leaning into its various promotions featuring the longtime beloved character Grimace. Those promotions include various Grimace-themed products, including a new limited-edition tumbler. However, the release of the Grimace Tumbler has longtime Mickey D’s fans upset.

McDonald’s Fans Can Pick Up the Limited-Edition Grimace Tumbler…But Not Everywhere

According to The New York Post, there is a new product at the Golden Arches, but customers in the United States were disappointed to learn that it is only available in Australia.

The fast-food giant has launched a new limited-edition Grimace Tumbler, a purple insulated cup with a yellow lid featuring the iconic character’s face.

“You can’t spell Cupid without Cup,” McDonald’s teased in a Facebook video.

American fans of the purple monster were sorely disappointed when they realized they couldn’t get their hands on one of these cups, as the comments in the Facebook post demonstrated.

“These are only available in Australia, and I’m honestly so deeply saddened,” one commented.

“I’m in the U.S., and if I can’t get my hands on this I’m throwing a fit!!” a different fan wrote.

“Dear McDonald’s, stop showing us cool stuff like this if we are unable to get it. It really just makes us dislike you,” another upset customer stated.

McDonald’s Australia describes the beverage holder as “a 1.18L stainless steel tumbler that is double wall vacuum insulated.”

“It’s the perfect accessory — keeping drinks cold for up to 24 hours and hot for up to 6 hours,” the website stated, noting that 100% of the proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia.

While supplies last, the Grimace Tumbler costs $21.95 at participating Australian locations.

Grimace & His Uncle Recently Announced the Return of the Shamrock Shake

Grimace is one of the most popular of McDonald’s pantheon characters. And, recently, he and his long-lost uncle, Uncle O’Grimacey (who was first introduced in the 1970s in a rather terrifying ad campaign) announced the return of the beloved Shamrock Shake.

press release stated, “This Shamrock Season celebration came to life when Grimace stumbled upon his family’s original Shamrock Shake recipe. That discovery sparked Grimace to reconnect with his vibrant, joyful, and generous uncle, Uncle O’Grimacey.”

The release continued, “Inspired to reunite with Grimace and support his favorite Charity’s 50th milestone, Uncle O’Grimacey packed his bags and embarked on a journey from Sham Rock, Ireland. Now that he’s here, Uncle O’Grimacey is traveling coast-to-coast, spreading Shamrock cheer with fans everywhere and celebrating RMHC and their mission to keep families together.”

“Our fans eagerly await the Shamrock Shake each year. We are thrilled that proceeds from this minty-flavored treat will aid RMHC in keeping families together,” said Joy Silmon, a second-generation McDonald’s franchisee. “Family is a core value at McDonald’s, and we live this every day. Together, with our Crew, customers, and iconic McDonaldland character, Uncle O’Grimacey, we’re helping RMHC make families feel at home, even when they can’t be.”

For those who wanted to openly show their affection for the Shamrock Shake while simultaneously raising money for RMHC, the fast-food giant released unique items depicting Uncle O’Grimacey and other McDonald’s classics. This merchandise was available for pre-order at goldenarchesunlimited.com, though it seems all items are currently sold out. Customers can also assist RMHC by rounding up their purchases at their local McDonald’s.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is a nonprofit organization that provides shelter and support to families with seriously ill or injured children undergoing medical treatment. The group was created in 1974 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by McDonald’s, the Philadelphia Eagles, and local doctors. Since its establishment, McDonald’s, its franchisees, and its customers have contributed more than $1 billion to RMHC.
