McDonald’s Launches Happy Meals for Adults With Collector Cups
August 14, 2024
McDonald’s has announced its latest promotion to lure customers into its stores with its new Happy Meal for adults, called the “Collector’s Meal.” This promotion includes the addition of Collector Cups, which celebrate the fast-food chain’s connection to some of the most iconic figures in pop culture. Let’s take a look at what’s included in the deal.
McDonald’s Collector’s Meal: The Happy Meals for Adults
McDonald’s introduced the Collector’s Meal last week, and it officially launched on Aug. 13. According to NBC New York, a selection of breakfast or lunch items and one of six collectible cups are included in the Collector’s Meal, which is themed on the chain’s association with famous toys, films, and other aspects of popular culture.
The relics showcase “classic keepsakes” of McDonald’s partnerships over the years, going all the way back to the 1980s.
The company claims that the purpose of the collectible cups is to provide fans with a “memory that they can hold in their hands.”
“Over the years, our fans have built a special connection to McDonald’s collectibles,” read the press release. “From Happy Meal toys to merch, games and cups, these keepsakes are more than just things — they unlock core memories around some of our favorite McDonald’s moments.”
Per the press release, the six-cup lineup includes:
- Barbie & Hot Wheels: A contemporary take on classic Mattel toys that continue to spark our imaginations.
- Beanie Babies: A tribute to the Teenie Beanie craze of the ’90s, this features some of the era’s most beloved characters, including the 2004 Golden Arches Bear.
- Coca-Cola: Stay refreshed with a modern update on timeless Coca-Cola designs, celebrating the brand’s iconic collaborations with McDonald’s over the years.
- Hello Kitty & Peanuts: Whether it’s beach days or grand adventures, this cup captures the joy of friendship, inspired by the McDonald’s collectibles that remind us of those cherished moments.
- Shrek, Jurassic Park, & Minions: Drawing from these legendary film franchises, this cup showcases memorable scenes and characters, alongside the collectibles that brought them to life.
- McDonald’s: From the Grimace Glass to Boo Buckets and Funny Fry Friends, these fan-favorite collectibles have always held a special place in our hearts, and now they’re celebrated on their own cup.
Value Meals in the Summertime
This is just the latest promotion McDonald’s has launched in an effort to bring people through its doors.
Back in May, the massive fast-food chain revealed that its $5 meal promotion will be back for a short while, starting on June 25.
The offer comes with a four-piece chicken nuggets, fries, a drink, and a McChicken or McDouble. In light of rising food prices and financial pressures, this initiative aims to provide consumers with options at fair prices.
In reaction to consumer backlash against the fast-food industry, this program was introduced. McDonald’s posted mixed first-quarter results, with U.S. same-store sales slightly behind projections, while rising pricing pushing up average checks. The organization noticed that as a result of the increasing prices, customers are becoming more economical with their spending, highlighting the importance of affordability in attracting diners.
Corporate McDonald’s is also urging people to order using the app because there will be flash sales offered all summer long. Additionally, patrons can accrue points that, once the time-limited offers expire, can be redeemed for complimentary food.
“Affordable prices and creating memorable moments are what McDonald’s is all about,” John Palmaccio, a McDonald’s owner-operator and Operator’s National Advertising Fund Chair, said in a statement to Food & Wine. “As small business owners, it’s our responsibility to deliver great value to our local communities when they need it most. The $5 Meal Deal is the perfect complement to the everyday local deals customers can find in-store and on the app, like the 25% off any purchase of $10 or more deal that I’m offering at my restaurants in Savannah, Georgia.”
