April 17, 2025
After months of speculation, McDonald’s has finally confirmed the news fans have been waiting for: the beloved Snack Wrap is coming back this year. Which month, however, is still to be determined.
On April 15, the fast-food giant posted a mysterious date and news of the menu item’s return on Instagram. The company posted, “snack wraps 0x.14.2025.” It wrote in the description, “It’s close. I can feel it,” and added as a comment, “How are you gonna celebrate the snack wrap comeback!!!!?”
McDonald’s has yet to clarify the strange release date noted on its social media account. No further information has been revealed about its meaning, though many fans are speculating online.

Food bloggers and fans have also been responding to the exciting news. Markie_Devo wrote, “Praise Ronald!! It’s finally happening,” while meals_by_cug called it “major news.”
McDonald’s fans were equally excited about the Snack Wraps’ return. One penned, “Give it to me plz,” while a second noted, “Looks like it’s between May and September.” A third warned, “And you better not get rid of them again.”
Whether you missed them the first time around or have been daydreaming about that crispy chicken goodness ever since 2016, now’s your time. The Snack Wrap comeback isn’t just about food. It’s about nostalgia, comfort, and a little tortilla-wrapped slice of McDonald’s history.
The confirmation follows earlier hints from McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger, who told “Good Morning America” in December 2024 that “the Snack Wrap will be back in 2025.” Erlinger also noted that the item “has a cult following.” However, at the time, he would not confirm a date when the beloved food item would return to McDonald’s menus.
What Is the Allure of McDonald’s Snack Wraps?
With McDonald’s Snack Wraps finally making a comeback, the question remains: Why exactly are people this hyped about a fast-food item that’s been off the menu for nearly a decade?
Let’s rewind. Introduced in 2006, the Snack Wrap was McDonald’s answer to the growing demand for portable menu items. The Snack Wrap featured a warm flour tortilla wrapped around either crispy or grilled chicken, shredded lettuce, cheddar-jack cheese, and a generous drizzle of ranch or honey mustard dressing. It quickly became a fan favorite.
The concept was developed by McDonald’s Director of Culinary Innovation Dan Coudreaut and his team, who aimed to create a snack-sized item that was both tasty and easy to prepare, per a blog post by David Eckoff. The development process began with the idea of combining chicken and cheese in a tortilla, initially resulting in a product dubbed the “tacadilla.”
However, customer feedback indicated that this version wasn’t well-received. In response, Coudreaut’s team refined the recipe by using shredded cheese instead of melted cheese, adding ranch sauce, and including lettuce.
The Snack Wrap wasn’t quite a burger, and not quite a salad; it fit perfectly between meals or as a lighter lunch option. It was beloved by those looking for a quick, tasty, and slightly less indulgent meal than the usual fast-food fare.
Despite its cult following, McDonald’s began phasing out Snack Wraps in the U.S. around 2016, according to QSR. They were reportedly too complicated and time-consuming for kitchen staff to assemble quickly during peak hours, leading McDonald’s to ultimately pull them from menus nationwide.
After years of tweets, petitions, and TikToks begging for its return, McDonald’s has listened. While the brand has teased some mysterious dates on social media with no full explanation yet, fans are hoping this marks the official Snack Wrap return for good.
